Six steps to the right flight
-
1
Wait until your treatment days are confirmed
Book your flight only after the clinic has confirmed your treatment plan and your first treatment day. You will get the confirmation from us in writing. If you can, arrive the day before, so that you can rest before your first visit.
-
2
Allow some spare time for the return
Fitting crowns and dentures may need an extra visit. Book your return one or two days after your last treatment day, or choose a ticket where you can change the return date.
After surgery: after some procedures, such as a sinus lift, you must wait before flying. The clinic will tell you about any flying restrictions in your treatment plan – check them before you book your return flight. -
3
Choose your destination airport: almost always Tbilisi (TBS)
The clinics and hotels are in Tbilisi, so Tbilisi airport (TBS) is the natural choice. (Airports have three-letter codes, such as TBS, which airlines and booking sites use.) Some low-cost airlines fly to Kutaisi airport (KUT), but it is about 3.5–4 hours from Kutaisi to Tbilisi. Choose Kutaisi only if the saving is clear and you feel up to the transfer. Compare the airports, with photos, further down.

Search for flights on a flight search site
From Dublin there are usually one-stop connections to Tbilisi, for example via Istanbul; from London there are also direct flights (see the routes below). You can see prices and travel times in the search below. It opens ready-filled searches on trusted sites.
- Prefer connections that give you at least 1.5 hours between flights.
- Prefer the whole journey on one ticket: if your first flight is late, the airline is responsible for your onward flight.
- If you can, avoid flights that arrive at night – it is good to arrive rested for your first treatment day.
-
5
Think about luggage
For a treatment trip, hand luggage is usually enough, which makes the ticket cheaper. Always keep your medicines, treatment instructions and any dentures in your hand luggage. If your trip includes a holiday or you need winter clothes, choose a ticket that includes a checked bag – adding one later is often more expensive.

Insurance and travel documents
- From 1 January 2026, Georgia requires all travellers to have valid health and accident insurance for the whole stay, with cover of at least 30,000 GEL (Georgian lari). Ask your insurer for an insurance certificate in English, or buy a low-cost Georgian tourist insurance policy online – see the guide.
- Check whether your travel insurance covers a treatment trip. Many travel insurance policies do not pay for complications from planned treatment. Ask your insurer before you travel.
- Citizens of EU countries and Norway can usually travel to Georgia without a visa and stay for up to a year. An EU citizen can also travel with an identity card. Before you travel, check the latest information in the Department of Foreign Affairs travel advice for Georgia.
Which airport?

The first option to compare when your treatment is in Tbilisi. The transfer to the city’s clinics and hotels is usually shorter than from Kutaisi or Batumi.

May offer a cheaper flight. Include the transfer to Tbilisi, its cost and duration, and confirm the driving time and schedule with the transport provider.

Suits trips to the Black Sea coast in particular. For dental treatment in Tbilisi, allow for the long onward journey.
Routes from Dublin and London
Route information checked on 25 October 2026. Operating days, fares and connections can change, so confirm the timetable and final price for your own travel dates before paying.
Dublin to Tbilisi
- Dublin (DUB) → Istanbul (IST) → Tbilisi (TBS): Turkish Airlines sells Dublin–Tbilisi journeys with a connection in Istanbul (Turkish Airlines – Dublin to Tbilisi). Search Dublin to Tbilisi as one journey and confirm that all flights are on one ticket.
- Compare the outbound and return connection times carefully. Check whether the itinerary includes overnight travel or an overnight stop, and include any extra accommodation in the total cost.
- You may also search Dublin–Tbilisi via London Heathrow or other hubs. Avoid changing London airports during a connection unless you have deliberately planned the ground journey and allowed enough time.
London to Tbilisi
- London Heathrow (LHR) → Tbilisi (TBS): British Airways offers a direct route from Heathrow to Tbilisi. Its destination page gives an approximate flight time of 5 hours 5 minutes (British Airways – Tbilisi).
- London Luton (LTN) → Tbilisi (TBS): easyJet flies London Luton–Tbilisi (easyJet – Luton to Tbilisi). Compare the full price including the baggage you need, seat selection and travel to Luton, and check operating dates in the booking calendar.
- Heathrow and Luton are different airports. Check the airport codes on every flight, include the cost and time of getting to the correct airport, and compare the return airport as well.
- If a direct flight does not fit your clinic dates, search London–Tbilisi with one stop and prefer connecting flights sold together on one ticket, with enough time for the connection.
Compare the complete cost: return fare + required baggage + travel to your departure airport + airport transfers in Georgia + any extra overnight stay. For London departures compare in GBP, for Dublin in EUR.
Booking directly with the airline makes it clearer who to contact about changes or cancellations.

Frequently asked questions
Why does SmileGeorgia not book flights for me?
When you book the flight yourself, you are a customer of the airline or the search site, and you have their customer protection. You can also compare prices freely and choose what suits you best. We help you choose, and we fit the flights around your treatment schedule.
What should I do if my flight is delayed or cancelled?
Contact the airline or the search site where you booked. Tell us your new arrival time straight away, and we will move your appointments with the clinic if needed.
Is it worth flying to Kutaisi?
Rarely. It is about 3.5–4 hours from Kutaisi to Tbilisi by bus or train, and the transfer adds cost and tiredness. Kutaisi is worth it only if the difference in flight prices is clear.
Can I fly straight after treatment?
After most crown, veneer and denture treatments you can fly as normal. After some surgical procedures you must wait before flying. The clinic will tell you about any flying restrictions in your treatment plan.
